In May 2014, the Nevada SHPO and its many partners will be celebrating Historic Preservation and Archaeological Awareness Month.  This month’s theme is “Nevada's Sesquicentennial - 150 Years of Statehood”

This theme reinforces the message that all citizens and visitors to Nevada can become part of the preservation of the state’s significant monuments, landscapes and neighborhoods by visiting an historic home or building, shopping in a historic neighborhood, or touring an archaeological site.

We encourage you to come and find out why historic resources and archaeological sites should be preserved to maintain a sense of community and place.  By joining in this month-long celebration of historic preservation and archaeology, you will learn about our collective heritage and participate in some great outdoor and indoor activities.
